A bibliography is a list of books, journals or magazines used as source material in writing a research paper.

By the way, there are several ways to write a bibliography. However, the following steps for writing a bibliography is the standard approach.

1. Prepare a page at the end of the research paper as a bibliography

You will simply need to highlight this page as your bibliography by placing a heading at the top. The heading would be BIBLIOGRAPHY.

2. List all authors alphabetically

Your bibliography is listed alphabetically by author's surname or family name whether it be a book, journal or article.

3. List the author's surname or family name followed by a comma

4. List the author's given names followed by a period

5. List the name of the book in italics followed by a period

NB. The name of the book can be listed by underlining the book title.

6. List the city's name in which the book was published followed by a colon

8. List the date of publication follow by a period

9. List the name of article in quotation marks followed by a period

11. List the date of publication of the journal or magazine in parenthesis
